today is....

Megan M. and Michelle F.'s BIRTHDAY!!!!!

So to my two beautiful friends i say: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
i pray you both have a fantastically super night!!
i love you and miss you!! and wish i was home to celebrate!!!
*hugs*

coincidence?..i think not

i had such an interesting experience today! (besides the practical..ya, b/c those are always fun...*sarcasm!). as i got dressed this morning, i was somewhat conscience of the clothes i was wearing - which is a good thing - but i had worn this shirt before and though i knew it was special i didn't think anything would come of it today! this shirt i speak of has one of my favourite Bible verses on it:
Romans 12:2 "and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
well as i was doing laundry during my break (after the prviously mentioned practical) some one behind me states "I love your shirt!" and as i proceed to turn around asks "do you know the Lord?" ..."yes!" i answer :) :)
i love being part of something so much bigger than me! where i can be so excited to meet a complete stranger!! We ended up talking about eternity, and church, and school and the mission field of living our lives for the glory of God within our classes, and how tough that can be, he talked about his wife, and how the verse on my back was something that he was actually studying right now. We shared prayer requests and than stated again just how encouraging it was to meet someone that you knew you were spending eternity with!! ....and this was all in about 5 mins! how fun!
anyway i was so encouraged!! when i got dressed early this morning, i had no idea that there was something so significant planned in something as insignifocant as a piece of cloth! And yet i have NO idea the power held within the words from God! Some could say this was all a coincidence - but the fact that i was not on my regular laundry schedual, and he had 'randomly' come downstairs for something....i don't know, it kind of shows that there was some-ONE else planning our meeting.
anyway, i was super excited and encouraged...it may me realize even more that i am not alone out there!
Have a fantastic night!! :)

Romans 12:1 "Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship."

Let it snow!!

there is just something about the first real snowfall of the winter (we had about 2+ inches today and they are calling for more!). its refreshing!! Especially in windsor, where this will pretty much be the only time i will actually see the snow as white; it will soon get brown and mushy and melt...probably within the next few days! last year windsor had record snowfall and it was nothing compared to up north! i actually miss the snow while i am down here. we decorated our house for Christmas a few weeks ago, but now with the snow it seems more like Chritsmas season!! i cannot wait to get home for a break!!
it has been a while since a wrote in this thing. i have been crazy-busy but i guess that should not be an excuse...lol, never mind i think it is a valid excuse especially in my program! School has been ok. i am starting into practicals...so its a little high stress. i have two more to go (next week - hematology and transfusion science) and then the week after is all the finals. it's gone by really fast!!
things at 'the house' have been great! i love my girls!! ;) Michelle actually biked today and got caught in the snow on the way home - yucky! so i think we are finally getting rides offically (unless of course windsor has the inevidable thaw and we may bike again!lol) Jen just got back from Nashville last night! she went to a youth-workers conference with her church - and came back with a nose-ring!! i am such a bad influence eh!? i will have to post a pic of the two of us with our pretty li'l noses! And now we are trying to talk Michelle into getting one too...we'll see if that works!! ;) i am getting super excited about my own trip to Nashville!! I am going from Jan.1-5 for the "Passion" conferences...its a huge college-aged people gathering with speakers and music and a chance for fellowship and encouragment! ...John Piper will be one of the speakers - i'm excited!!
A HUGE congratulations to Shawn and Hailey on their new addition - Olivia!!! .... and to the Sabines as well!! Both Olivia and Lydia arrived on the same day! New babies are so exciting!! i hope and pray both families are well!
fresh snow and new babies...how fun! Reminds me of Christmas... :)... and the reason why we celebrate it!
"Have the attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in the appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus Every knee will bow, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:5-11)

alright all...have a fantastic evening! (and Jessi, if you would have a little patience with me...i am new at this thing:)...miss you hon!)

Romans 11:35-36 "Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen."

Hayride!!

So i really should get to bed, its been a long day...but i had to let you all know about my fun evening!! Here we are all dressed up for the Oakwood Bible Chapel first annual Hayride and Hoedown (Caitlin, me, Michelle, and Christine). It was a blast!! Everyone was dressed up, and we had a campfire, then a hayride (complete with a hay fight!...it got Everywhere!!) and then we had chili around the campfire and sang songs. Some people shared their testamonies, and it was so encouraging hearing them be so real. i love hearing stories of how God has taken people and been so faithful to restore lives to Himself. Its just such an amazing thought that God - Creator of the universe - loved me (who am i!) and did everything He could to make a way for me to have a relationship with Him. How cool is it that He would care enough about my life to mold me and teach me and love me! wow! ...

...ok back to the hayride...after chili we went into the Turners horse arena and learned how to sqaredance...with a professional caller and everything!!! lol! It was hilarious!! My group (unfortunately) was left-right deficient which was a problem when all the commands had to do with directions! lol! But it was a blast...and we sort of got it by the end!

Anyway, it was a fabulous night! Good times, Good dancing, Good talks, Good fellowship!

More later! Good night!

what i do

lol...well i am so glad i got such a warm welcome! now i just have to figure out how to link your sites, and we will be all set!...
Michelle i am glad you asked for some clarification. No one has ever heard of a lab tech, but they do do alot in the hospital. When i am finshed my thrid year (which is actually hospital placement) i will be a medical laboratory technologist. i could work in a hospital or lab doing any kind of testing on any kind of body fluid. there are five fields that i work in: hematology (thats all the blood work), clinical chemistry (mostly urines, but we do tests having to do with proteins or triglycerides, enzyme work, or carbohydrates), transfusion science (this is any kind of testing having to do with transfusions...so blood types, etc.), microbiology (finding out what is making you sick - via mulitple biochemical tests - and then how to treat it - ie what antibiotic), and histology ( which is taking any tissue that has been removed, viewing it under a microscope and seeing what is wrong with it - if there is anything).
So thats a brief overview....its alot of work, but worth it! lab techs are key components in the health field and we pretty much work with every other department! As far as the course goes...i would definitly reccomend it! its challenging (very heavy work load...and the teachers push for excellence..) but so rewarding. its fascinating to know just how well the body was designed to work, and how it lets you know when things are not right, but gives you so many clues as to what is wrong...its incredible!! I love it! and can't wait to actually work in the field. One day (after loans are paid off! lol) i hope to use the skills overseas. so we shall see... :)
today was a pretty good day. i slept in, which i am realizing is the routine on wednesdays...but don't worry mom, i didn't miss anything really important! and the rest of the day went very smoothly.Plus i had the wind at my back while riding home today...so that always puts me in a good mood! ;) and i don't have that much hmwk so that should be nice! :)
well...i should get somethings done.
Until next time...

Romans 11:34 " For who has known the mind of the LORD, or who became His counselor?"

And it begins!

So after listening to so many people say that i should get one of these (and telling them that i never would!) i finally have a blog. and hopefully once i get used to it i'll make it a little more funky with pics and links and stuff...lol
so where do i begin...i am (still) attending St.Clair in Windsor for Med Lab Science (thats all those yucky lab tests that docters order) and cannot wait for second year to be over (april) so that i can actually start into working at a hospital! i have two roommates - who are fantastic!! :) And am going to a great church - very solid in the Word - where i am getting to know alot people, which is great!
For those of you who knew (and i guess the ones who didn't) i went to Pakistan this summer, i suppose i should catch up a bit about that! it was absolutly fantastic!! i fell in love with the people and the culture...and really didn't want to leave! there were 6 of us and we stayed with my friend's family. it was amazing getting to know the family, and really learn about the country through their eyes. the best part was doing the day-to-day things with them, sitting and talking while we washed clothes or - tried to - do dishes, or having evening chats with Rani (my newest sister!). I miss it. once i got back home (lol...which is another story for another day...oh the adventures in traveling!) i realized how easily i got swept into the rush of our culture.
don't you find we move too fast? i think we have lost the art of sitting and talking with someone and not caring about the time, while you genuinely care about what they have to say. i pack my schedual too tight with things like school, and homework, paperwork, and prestige...and miss out on the more important things.
i guess that has been on my mind alot...hense the blog name... all those 'other' things should not matter if i live every day with the mindset of "if this should be my last day". i mean there isn't anything inherently wrong with doing these things and doing them well...i quite like school and like putting the brain, that i was intricatly created with, to work! but i guess i am just realizing the necessity of slowing down and putting more emphasis on the eternal instead of the earthly.
hmmm...so who knew i would jabber on in my first blog.... oh well, thats me and my thoughts.
well, i must get to sleep...early morning tomorrow.
Until next time...

Romans 11:33 "Oh, the depth of the riches both of wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!"
Well...it's official. i have finally entered the blogger world. after realizing how far behind i was getting in my emails, i figured it would be kind of beneficial if i at least tried to keep in touch with people. so here i am sharing a little bit in the life of Hillary. this is just a preliminary post...more to come.
